Journey
Inspired by travels and learning to view the landscapes through different lenses based on our lived experience, these paintings embody light and colour as it pertains to our experience of a place in the memories we create. The work explores places visited, often stemming from journal entries and written words that try to capture the essence of being somewhere new or seeing somewhere familiar through a new perspective. Each journey becomes an addition into our story.
When I began this work, I used the biggest brushes possible in order to loosen my control on the subject and let the memory of place lead to exploring that place once more in my imagination.
These paintings are the places we have been, the ones that left an imprint on our minds and hearts, the views that we return to in our dreams. They remind us of adventure and the possibility that is our part of our journey.
