Room to Breathe
The ever-changing nature of time, demonstrated in the dance of the clouds, the gentle shifts in the landscape as each generation leaves their mark inspired these softly layered vast sky paintings. The movement in the skies signifying the passage of time while the grounded pathways offer a sense of connection, drawing parallels to the journey of life. Brushes and palette knives are used to create a physicality of space, a link to both past and future as experienced in the vastness of the moment. Informed by some of life’s big transitions and a celebration of the every day, these pieces offer a depth, a sense of peace and hope.
These paintings are founded in the practice of journaling in an attempt to collect thoughts and advice I wish to share with those I love. They are stories and memories that we have shared translated into colours and movement. These are my babies growing up, finding their way, striking out with all the big dreams and also the safe landing places that will always welcome them home.
These landscapes are personal yet also meant to be a haven for anyone who needs a place to simply be in this harried life, a space of contemplation and comfort. These pieces are where we grew up, the celebration of who we have become and all that is yet to be explored. Quite simply, they give us room to breathe.
