Reflections

A study in the nuances between the skies and their reflections, influenced by so many factors and experienced uniquely by the individual who views them. These paintings focus on the play of light on water, like recalling how our stories shift and evolve as we glance back at them. Reminiscent of summer memories, precious moments held close throughout the year, later when looking back to be re-examined and enjoyed over again in our mind’s eye. The landscapes and the skies are blurred, distinct yet interacting, like our stories those moments. The pieces were created layering colour to achieve depth and applied with multiple brush sizes creating moments to discover, pause and reflect.

“I wanted to explore memories of togetherness, camping, exploring, and the pauses that occur when we remove ourselves from the daily grind and reconnect with those we love. These pieces aim to create both time and space for personal reflection, to recall those moments that are precious to our stories. I enjoy the way the water moves the light, changing the views of the sky, similar to the way time and reflection influences how we perceive our stories, letting them evolve and shift to become uniquely our own.”
